Alex was a beautiful light, friend, and colleague in the recovery industry. He was a voice of comfort and knowledge in what is often a challenging time in a person's life, and he loved helping others. Alex's light was gone too soon, and his loved ones wish to help others avoid the pain and heartbreak of losing someone precious by sponsoring a scholarship in Alex's name. Alex Kneeland Wright, 35, beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend passed away on August 25, 2024.
Alex was born in Birmingham, AL on April 14, 1989. He graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 2007, where he played golf, football, and lacrosse. Alex never met a stranger. He loved swinging a golf club, shooting his compound bow, cooking a delicious meal, watching a great British mystery, and reading an epic fantasy novel. He is remembered as a passionate, curious, and outgoing spirit.
Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents Lowell and Kathy Baltzell and Otto and Mary Alice Wright. Alex is survived by his mother Linda, father Kneeland (Lesli), sister Lauren Sinnott (Michael), niece Eleanor, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and the love of his life, Avery King.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, AL. Visitation to precede Mass at 10:00 AM.
