Reed and Krista Smith have been in the treatment industry for a number of years, first in residential treatment, then in our own PHP/IOP addiction recovery facilities in the metro Atlanta area, Centered Recovery. Our exclusive program is the only full mindfulness-based program in Georgia for addiction and mental health. The cultivation of mindfulness changed everything in our own lives for the better--everything from parenting to marriage to friendships, not to mention our mental and physical health!
The refrain we hear all too often is, "Why don't they teach this stuff in school? Everyone should know this!" Since starting this work over 10 years ago, our clients continue to be amazed at all the ways their life has improved beyond simple sobriety.
But we know finances and insurance can often be a barrier to quality treatment, and we want to help remove that barrier for anyone who is invested in their mental health and recovery and believes that the mindfulness-based approach Centered uses may be beneficial for them.
Centered Recovery has sponsored free Centered Support recovery meetings for the past 7 years in the North Atlanta area, adding Dharma and SMART Recovery style meetings along the way. Our volunteers are highly qualified professionals who have a passion for helping others live their healthiest lives.
Jennifer Lopes provides Peer Recovery Support meetings using the SMART Recovery format as well as the Centered Support format. She also helps provide Family Support Groups for loved ones.
Reed and Krista Smith provide No Steps Required© Educational Workshops for people in recovery, as well as Educational Workshops for Parents and Spouses/Partners. They also provide No Steps Required© Educational Workshops for mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress/burnout.
Jessica Delgado provides administrative support as well as medical referrals for the community for addiction treatment.
Founded by Reed and Krista Smith in 2021, A Centered Life is a non-profit Recovery Community Organization complement to Centered Recovery, a mindfulness-based addiction and mental health treatment facility serving North Georgia. The North Fulton area was virtually without alternative support groups for recovery and mental health, even though the demand was high.
A Centered Life was created to help support and educate residents of Alpharetta, Roswell, Cumming, Milton, and surrounding areas through meaningful support groups, educational services, and gender-specific and family workshops. A Centered Life is sponsored in part by Centered Recovery, but we can't do it without you!
Donations to A Centered Life, a 501(c)(3), are tax deductible, and help fund the continuation and growth of future programs for the North Fulton area and hopefully beyond!
A Centered Life was created because there was a huge gap in free, mindfulness-based mental health and addiction recovery resources for the residents of Georgia and beyond. While there are numerous free options for addiction recovery and mental health support, there are little to no options that utilize the modality we have proven over many years in the recovery industry to work best for many people - the cultivation of true mindfulness. There were also little to no free support groups such as SMART, Celebrate, Dharma, and Centered Support due to a lack of funding and volunteers. This means Georgia residents have been forced to rely on programs and support group styles that simply do not work for all people for various reasons. Since recovery and mental health are never "one size fits all, more options are desperately needed.
Centered Recovery has already provided free or reduced services to everyone we have been able to who has expressed a desire to recover from addiction issues, as well as depression, anxiety, and stress related mental health issues. We never want to turn away a person in need who truly wants to get help creating a healthier life! We know that helping individuals live healthy, meaningful lives, it improves the health of the community for all.
Our Mission is to gather the resources to ensure all individuals are able to access meaningful mental health and addiction recovery services, support groups, and mindfulness-based educational programs.
